  • Best value truck for the money!

The Nissan XD is big! I ride higher than most lifted trucks, and it is totally stock. The ride on the 20 inch wheels is incredible. This truck is the sleeper in the US truck market.

My Nissan XD 4x4, Cummins was sold at auction after receiving damage while at the factory, I was unable to determine where the truck was damaged? Mine had 400 miles on the odometer when purchased through a Nissan dealer. There was a 10" scratch on the hood when I took ownership of it. This has been a fantastic truck and has served my family well. Service at my local dealership has been very good. I had one experience with a cracked rear 3rd brake light lens. It was udner warranty and repaired at the dealership with no issue. This is not for someone who has never driven a truck. The Titan XD has Truck like manners and if one is used to driving a car like truck, AKA. Beer Can, or small SUV this will seem like a monstrosity. Titan XD's have Heavy Duty Transmissions with a Heavy duty Steering gearbox. This truck is designed to pull heavy loads and keep the operator and passengers safe and comfortable. A car truck will cause one to be white knuckle'd when pulling these heavy loads and is therefor inadaquate when compared to this vehicle. The Titan Cummins XD is a great truck when used for it's intended purpose of doing truck things and can double as a family vehicle that tracks beautifully. The fuel economy is a component of the driving style and that being said I experience an average city highway combination of 17.6 MPG. When you consider how much the truck weighs and it's capability, this is not bad. In fact, It is is about 30% better than a similarly equipped gasoline truck. Mind you, It shouldn't be graded with a light weight truck. That will introduce a different conversation and is not a fair comparison because they are designed with different things in mind. Overall this is a great vehicle and if it weren't for the big 3 manufactures literally out building Nissan by a 30 to 1 margin it would have no trouble competing with them. If you take a close look at what GM is doing with the Off Road Sierra 1500 one will find they are fighting for the same space that Nissan was trying to occupy 4 years ago. Everybody is trying to find toque, efficiency and emission compliance, refined comfort. This truck has all four making it truly great!
  • Goodf truck but very heavy for 1/2 ton

Great looking truck. One very minor problem with lighted mirror in sun shade. Truck is powerful, but transmission often shifts upward to next gear what seems to me too quickly during city and normal driving speeds, which results in momentary loss of power. My response is to press throttle harder which results in immediate downshift and very quick increase in speed...not bad, but not necessarily what I want in city traffic when you realize within a couple of seconds your doing 15 mph faster than the vehicle in front of you! This is common complaint of others I have spoken with. I believe the 6 speed transmission used in the diesel version would be better, or better tune the shift points in the seven speed the 5.6 gas XD comes with. Gas gauge should read fuel depletion rate vs fuel economy. On the interstate at 78 it will achieve about 16.5 to 17 mpg. Around town 13. I often tow a 16 foot lightweight trailer loaded with a Yamaha UTV and achieve average of about 12.3 mpg. Good comfortable truck, but the Fosgate high end radio is not near the level of Bose.
